Everest belongs to a global network of over 200 schools in 16 countries. Our curriculum is designed and licensed by RC Education, which is based in Atlanta. We are accredited by, AdvancED, the largest community of education professionals in the world serving 34,000 educational institutions across the United States and 70 other nations. Our faculty and staff benefit from training from abroad.
Everest is not an IB school. We offer the AP (Advanced Placement) program. which is a global academic program by College Board based in New York, offered in secondary schools. It provides students with a recognized academic credential as universities around the world recognize AP Exam scores for admission, credit and placement. This allows our graduates to save time and money on college tuition, study abroad and secure a second major. College admission officers know that when they see AP on a transcript the student is experienced in a particular class and more ready for college.
We take the best practices from both ends of the spectrum. We go beyond memorization and teach our students to understand, to think, to ask critical questions, to assimilate and apply their knowledge. Our teachers give our students personal attention and make use of many student- centered, hands-on, experiential and collaborative teaching approaches. Our teachers are trained to assess student learning through multiple assessment tools. These are some of the characteristics that are also used by schools denominated as progressive.
To achieve academic excellence and development of the whole person our students are prepared for higher learning by developing a variety of skills that may not be present in all progressive schools like: test-taking skills, independent learning, homework, study habits, time and project management, etc. We require order in the classrooms with set routines and structures. Our teaching style actively promotes the growth in character and virtue so that the students internalize it and express it through their choices and actions. As commonly found in other traditional schools, the school has vibrant programs and practices to promote the joyful living of respect, self- mastery, obedience, responsibility and accountability. The structured environment in our classrooms allows for progressive learning strategies to flourish.
Everest Academy's Class of 2018 was accepted to 63 universities and colleges abroad, including three Ivy League schools, and in seven universities in the Philippines. Some of the universities they are headed to are New York University, Boston College, John Paul the Great Catholic College, Rice University, University of California, University of Navarra, Ateneo de Manila University, and University of the Philippines-Diliman.
Research has proven that brain development differs between boys and girls which becomes significant when they are between 9 and 12 years old. Everest offers gender specific education in a co-ed campus starting in fourth grade.. Both boys and girls learn the same things, so the curriculum does not change. What happens is that teaching adjusts to the preference, needs, motivation and, above all, the learning styles of each gender. For example, boys are generally stimulated by developing skills under pressure and time limits with winners and losers. Girls on the other hand generally prefer teamwork where nobody wins and nobody loses.
Yes we do, Everest Academy does not discriminate against applicants and students on the basis of race, sex, color, and national or ethnic origin.
The majority of our families are Filipino, comprising 70% with close to 20% of mixed Filipino- foreign nationality. Foreign families make up a little over 10% of our student population.
Yes, we accept non-Catholics and non-Christian families but all students must take the Catholic Formation class as it is one of the mandatory academic subjects
Everest believes every child has a right to learning but as a mainstream school we do not have resources to provide for children with needs beyond a certain level. The needs of the potential student are assessed to determine if Everest is able to support them in order that each child can fulfill his or her potential.
Homework is given as an elaboration or extension of classroom work to support the development of intellectual skills and discipline. It serves as a formative means of assessing student learning and is used for evaluative purposes. The general guide for time spent doing homework is as follows:

The Dean of Students will accept and review all reports of bullying, including anonymous reports.
School administrators will consider the ages and maturity of the students involved, the type of behaviors, the frequency and/or pattern of behaviors, the context in which the incident occurred, and other relevant circumstances. Consequences may range from positive behavioral interventions up to and including suspension, expulsion, and/or reports to law enforcement officials.

Yes, we do offer a variety of after school activities in order to provide opportunities for our students to nurture their talents. These are purely voluntary for those students who are interested in the particular activities available each semester.
We also have varsity teams in basketball and soccer for both boys and girls starting in 4th grade, which demand commitment from the players. Our teams compete in MISAA (Manila International Schools Athletic Association) as well as in a number of friendly tournaments organized throughout the year.
The policy is not to allow nannies in the classroom. The kindergarten classroom will have two teachers for a maximum number of 15 students. First grade also has a teacher assistant.
We do accept transfers up to the beginning of the second semester provided the first semester has been completed in the previous school.
For cases where a student is transferring from a country with a different academic calendar and has completed a particular grade level, we can accept him or her into that same grade level even in the 4th quarter, but the quarter will not be credited.
The Filipino we offer is conversational language. We are currently coordinating with the local universities to ensure that we prepare our students enough to be able to meet the standards required of them when they reach university.
No, we do not have scholarships. We do have tuition assistance for families who wish to apply for it.
Our sister schools offer programs for international students. As the curriculum is the same, students can readily adjust and also be enriched by living in a different culture, with an Everest family from abroad. We also have boarding schools in Switzerland, Ireland, and the United States.

All our teachers are licensed and some are Master's Degree holders while others are currently pursuing their Masters. Every summer we conduct in-service training where experts from the US come to train our teachers in Integral Formation. Our teachers also have opportunities to receive training abroad.
Our teachers have formal and informal observations done by the Principal and Academic Coordinators. At the end of every school year the teachers are evaluated and achieve tenure only after 3 years.
